You can request repeat medication in the following ways:

• In person - drop the right-hand side of your prescription in the drop-box on the ground floor with the required items clearly marked.
• Online – via the link at the top of this page (new users will need  to download the app and register here;). 
• By post - to Hoad Medical Practice, Ulverston Community Health Centre, Stanley Street, Ulverston LA12 7BT.

Prescriptions are processed daily.

You can submit a repeat prescription request up to 2 weeks before your medication is due.

Please note, we no longer accept prescription requests over the telephone.

It may take seven full working days for prescriptions to be processed by us and be ready to collect from your nominated pharmacy. We cannot control when your prescription will be ready to collect at your nominated Pharmacy so please contact them directly.

• This practice is set up for the electronic prescription service (EPS).
• This means that for most patients we can send your prescription to your chosen chemist directly, saving you having to come down to the surgery.
• You can nominate your chosen pharmacy via the NHS app or just ask at reception.

• Medication reviews are extremely important for all patients on repeat medication
• Our staff are able to identify all patients who are due a review and will ask a GP or our inhouse pharmacist to do this
• You may be contacted by one of our GP's or the Pharmacist to discuss further.
• Once completed, if everything is ok, the GP or pharmacist will reauthorise your repeat medication for a further 12 months. 

Your local pharmacists can usually answer your questions. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can now prescribe medication for certain common illnesses such as :

• Earache (1 - 17yr olds only)
• Impetigo (1yr +)
• Infected insect bite (1yr +)
• Shingles (18yrs +)
• Sinusitis (12yrs +)
• Sore Throat (5yr +)
• Uncomplicated UTI (Female 16 - 64yrs)

They can also offer advice on over the counter medications for minor illnesses such as:

• coughs
• colds
• sore throats
• tummy trouble
• aches and pains
• insect bites
• skin problems

You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.

When phoning the practice for an appointment we may signpost you to a local pharmacy who may be able to deal with your symptoms quicker.
